Stacey is the wife of Shawn & loving mother of Kylie & Zach. She has always been the type of person to put the needs of others before her own needs. I think that is what makes this terrible disease even harder for her to deal with.

Here is Stacey’s story:

The injury to her left foot happened on Sept 13,2009 when she dropped a table on it while cleaning (Stacey’s kind of a clean freak). She went to the Emergency Room and nothing was broken. She followed up with her family Doctor who put her in a cast because her foot had already dropped and he was trying to get back to a 90-degree angle. During that time she started to feel a burning pain in her leg.

In October 2009 the cast was taken off her foot would still not stay up. She was sent to an Orthopedic Specialist who prescribed physical therapy, which made her pain and swelling worse. They gave her a brace to wear to support her dropped foot, which she could not bear to wear.

In November 2009 the Orthopedic Specialist sent her to a Pain Management Doctor that diagnosed her with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). Pain medications were not relieving the pain, so the Doctor decided to do nerve blocks. She had them done from November 2009 until April 2010 with no pain relief.

In April 2010 she had a catheter put in her spine with the medication running through it all the time for seven days. This did not help her condition, in fact the symptoms continued to get worse.

In May 2010 she had an electronic pain stimulator implanted in her spine, which was an EXTREMELY painful operation. Unfortunately it has given her no relief and actually was getting so hot it felt like it was burning her from the inside out. The electronic pain stimulator is turned off & she will need to have another surgery to have it removed.

August 2010- Stacey was diagnosed with full body CRPS following her appointment with Dr. Schwartzman, meaning this HORRIBLE disease has spread throughout her entire body.
